Happy Holidays

Today in the U.S. is Christmas so Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy Holidays. 2013 is going to be an eventful year, good and bad or indifferent. A lot has happen that past few months or so, the company I work for closed 23 campuses within 2 weeks and now they have to lay off 900 people by the new year... bummer  :( some unfortunately been laid-off and a lot of changes in my department will happen in January. I'm not looking forward to it because I don't know what's going to happen to me. In the past, I've worked at a company that was struggling because of the housing market, which is where their business thrived on. I was the last one to get hired and the first one to get fired, so I'm not too thrilled to hear the bad news before the holidays. I have faith and whatever happens, happen, it was meant to be.

On a better note, I started a little project that will grow into a bigger one later on, I will reveal much later in 2013. Some good movies will be coming out. I saw an official trailer of Man of Steel with Henry Cavill and I was in awe, I thought the first trailer was pretty awesome but this one was way BETTER. It looks like it will be better than the last Superman movie. Will Smith have a movie coming out called "After Earth" and that one looks good too. Will Smith son is in it too and he has to survive the much evolving earth. I think a new Mortal Kombat movie is coming out too but not sure. Brad Pitt has a movie called "World War Z" a zombie epidemic outbreak movie. I'm not so sure about this one yet. And more like; Iron Man, Captain America, prequel to 300?, wolverine and the list goes on.

A lot of people will be removed out of my life, meaning some people I don't talk to or shouldn't talk to will be removed out of my life. I need to surround myself with real people that have a positive outlook on life and want to do something with their lives. A lot of growth and changes will happen. All in all, 2013 will be my year!

Connecticut Shooting

Another sad news today, hearing bad news about another shooting that took place this week. We already had the mall shooting in Oregon that took place like 3 days ago; right before the Christmas holiday. The Connecticut shooting took place today around 9:41 am at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. The shooter, Adam Lanza is 20 years old, he has a brother that is being questioned by the police and he is 24 years old; he had nothing to do with the shooting.

He murdered 20 children ages 5 to 10 years old and 6 adults teachers and staff bringing the toll to 26 not including the gunman that killed his own self. Many sources said the gunman shot his mother in the face at home, then went to the school, walked into a classroom where his mother was once a teacher and opened fire, I believe most in the same classroom. He proceeded to another classroom killing 6 adults and killing himself.

Supposedly the gunman wore a bulletproof vest and carried 4 guns into the school. Sources also said Adam Lanza had some issues with other kids growing up. It's clear that this guy is sick and evil to go into a elementary school and open fire let alone killing his own mother as well. If you are tired of your own life or depressed get help, don't go murdering innocent people because you are mentally ill. What gives you the right to take someone else life? and notice all shooters in the world have one thing in common? mental issues!

Instead of celebrating the holidays with your kids, family and friends now you have to plan a damn funeral. It's heartbreaking and my heart goes out to the victims and victim's families that are mourning this tragic day. I'm sick to my stomach and very sad to hear bad news that mentally ill people in this world can go and just kill innocent people like it's a sport. What's the purpose of that? those 20 children didn't have a chance to live their lives and become something great. My prayers and thoughts are with the friends and family of the victims and the ones that lost their lives in this heinous crime.

This is one of the WORST mass shootings in U.S. history.

The Man with the Iron Fists Review

When I saw the trailer for this movie I had to see it. This movie has a Quentin Tarantino spin on it but was directed by RZA from the Wu Tang Clan and written RZA and Eli Roth. The plot of the movie is a hunt to retrieve a treasure of gold. All the bad guys want their hands on this precious gold like the Golden warriors, assassins, the Gemini twins. It all started when a young man's father a Lion Clan Leader was murdered by the hands of a traitor. The young man Zen Yi - The X-Blade (Rick Yune) spark by vengeance runs into a blacksmith aka Blacksmith (RZA) which was forced to join forces with The X-Blade due to a unfortunately accident caused by the clan in which the Blacksmith making his arms into lethal weapons.

Jack Knife (Russell Crowe) a British solder joined them too, he helped in making those arms lethal weapons. The clan; Bronze Lion (Cung Le), Silver Lion (Byron Mann), Gold Lion, Copper Lion there was a lot of lions... haha! Poison Dagger (Daniel Wu). I can't forget about one of my wrestlers Brass Body (Dave Bautista) he did his thing in the movie as the powerhouse. A lot of the fighting took place in the brothel house ran by (Madame Blossom) Lucy Lu. The thing I want to point out that was funny to me, well a lot of things was funny to me about this movie was the fact that the clan loved their hair. Their hair was well done with a lot of volume, color and curl. Poison Dagger hair was all white with white eyebrows, he kept touching his eyebrow with his pinky finger that had a pointy jewel on it.

I liked the fighting scenes of course because it was bloody, crazy and funny. I can't say I liked RZA's acting, he's not a actor per se. It was so much crazy fighting with people flying in the air and doing some cool tricks with their weapons and blood shed all over the place. Bautista's character was a bad, motha trucka!!! Lucy Lu's character was really good too. Everyone that was fighting did a good job using their fighting abilities. Don't see this movie if you don't like violence, weird/crazy sense of humor or Quentin Tarantino style movies, it has his influences all over this movie. Also this movie story-line was a little different, not a typical good story. The acting was a little cheesy as well.

Sinister Review

I seen this movie over the weekend with my boyfriend and what can I say about this movie? well, this movie is about a true crime author (Ellison Oswalt) played by Ethan Hawke who wanted to write a best-selling book but came across some footage that was left in a house him and his family moved in to. The footage had 5 different family murders on them. Ethan Hawke's character is trying to write his book based off of these heinous crimes. As he watches each footage there is this creepy character that's in the background staring back. One of the murdered families was hung in the backyard of Ethan Hawke's new house. By watching each footage he opens a gateway for this supernatural entity to enter his home.

I couldn't really fully watch the movie myself only because there was a group of loud mouths in the theater, well one loud mouth guy mainly kept talking throughout the movie. Most of us was shhhing and telling that person to shut up, I remember one person kept saying "Shut the 'F' up". It was bad to the point where 3 people left. A patron that works at the theater came in and told the guy to be quiet or leave the theater, he was somewhat trying to argue with the patron but eventually shut up.

I thought this movie wasn't scary at all, even with the creepy character being in the background most of the time. I would say that the character was real ugly though, no mouth, black eyes and didn't speak at all. The scare factor didn't do it for me, I guess nothing scares me anymore as far as movies go. They really tried to make this movie scary with the background music and lighting. The music was kind of weird and fast. Would I see this movie again? probably not!

J. Alexander's Restaurant Review

I normally don't write reviews on restaurants but more on food items but I must say, I really like this restaurant. Me and my boyfriend usually go to our local restaurants to have a bite to eat but we decided to switch it up a little. He mentioned J. Alexander's prior to us going because he dined there before. The last time he was there was several months ago and he liked it. Since I never been there before I decided to look online for their menu because their website for some reason didn't have a menu. The only bugged me about the menu was that it was limited, too small. They only had a few items; 5 or 6 appetizers, a small list of entrees, wine list was limited as well.

I'm thinking maybe they'll have a better selection, so we arrive and the ambiance is beautiful and upscale, a classy restaurant for sure. We ordered drinks, I had a Pomegranate Martini which was to die for, it was sweet with very little alcohol taste to it. My boyfriend ordered the Espresso Martini and that was to die for as well, it had a couple of pieces of coffee beans for a bolder flavor. It was time to order, I ordered the Barbecue Danish Baby Back Ribs, fell off the bone goodness with Tequila Beans which I can't stop thinking about it, it was soooooo good, right along with 'not your ordinary' mac and cheese which was also a very delicious food item. I switched out the coleslaw for that and I was glad I did. My boyfriend ordered the Steak Maui with the smash potatoes, and let me tell you, the steak melted in my mouth. It was very good too. I wish I had my camera with me to take pictures because the food was outstanding.

I would definitely go back but not as a every weekend thing only because for one, it has a very limited menu and two, it's a little on the pricy side.

Bamboo Spoon Yogurt Review

I stumbled across this place when I was on lunch break with a co-worker about two weeks ago. We were eating at a restaurant a few doors down from Bamboo Spoon. As we were leaving the restaurant I notice there was a yogurt shop in the same shopping center. Everybody should know by now that I'm a huge fan of frozen yogurt. I love to try different frozen yogurt shops and usually stick with those if I like them a lot. I told myself "one of these days I'm going to try out this place."

The cool thing about this place is the fact that it's not too far from where I work, and the hours I work I can fit in time to go before I start my shift. On a Thursday, I decided I'm going to check out this place. I go inside and I was like, "WOW" the decor is nicely decorative, more like environmentally friendly and it was clean too. This is a self-serve yogurt shop which I like, I was given a sample cup to try some flavors before I buy. I sampled Chocolate Nut, Snicker Doodle, and Sugar Cookie; all three flavors were to die for. The flavors are flesh and flavorful without leaving that aftertaste. There were more but I was on time restraints as I had to be at work real soon.

All in all, I ended up mixing Creamy Chocolate and Sugar Cookie. They have a lot of toppings to choose from, I think they may have more toppings than Pinkberry. I got strawberries, pineapples, granola, Andes candies which made me have stars in my eyes, I LOVE Andes mints especially in my frozen yogurt. And at the last minute I couldn't believe my eyes, I saw that they have NERDS candy. NERDS candy!!! I LOVE nerds candy too... I'll have to definitely try that next time.

This frozen yogurt shop is a must try, I'm going to add this place on my favorite frozen yogurt shop list. I have a few favorites and this one is one of them, I'll be back Bamboo Spoon.

Is Honesty The Best Policy?

I had a interesting conversation with one of my good friends; the topic of discussion was, if you are dating someone or considering dating someone that you are interested in, when is the time to be completely honest about already having a kid? or if you had a kid and you was dating someone would you tell them you have a kid or keep quiet until that person gets too involve with you? I personally want the person that I'm dating to tell me they have a child. That gives me the option or choice to decide if I want to continue to date the guy and the fact that he has a kid/s or just not continue to see the guy. At least give me the option to stay or go, don't wait until we are involve and BAM!!! I get hit with the "Oh by the way, I have a kid" I rather for someone to be completely honest about something so important as of having a child in their life.

From previous experiences, I was fortunately enough to know in the very beginning that the guy have a kid or kids, more than one experience. In the past, I chose to stay because I knew what I was getting myself into. But in my friend's defense, the person he knows had a reason as to why she didn't bring it up in the beginning, but I just think it's best to let that person know in the beginning you have a child. What are your thoughts, is honesty the best policy when it comes to revealing you have a child?

The Possession Review

This movie kind of sparked my interest when I first saw the trailer for it a while ago. I thought maybe I can build the courage to go see it. Til this day I'm still scared of "The Exorcist" the original one with Linda Blair. I saw that movie when I was a kid and it still creeps me out, I think by far the most scariest movie EVER. Back to "The Possession" it's about a haunted box believe to have demonic spirit from the Jewish folklore trapped in it and if anyone gain possession of it causes bad misfortune and torment. This was based off of a true story that took place in 2004 when someone purchased this box on eBay. But in the movie the father and his two daughters (Clyde) Jeffrey Dean Morgan, (Hannah) Madison Davenport and (Em) Natasha Calis went to a yard sale and purchased a mysterious box, not knowing it had a malicious spirit trying to get out.

Em somehow managed to get the box opened and all types of stuff broke lose. The ex-wife of Clyde (Sephanie) played by Kira Sedgwick was racing to save their daughter's life and put the evil spirit back into the box. The movie had some slight funny parts to give it some depth instead of overwhelming the movie with creepiness. But it wasn't scary enough for me or had that scary factor to make me want to go to sleep with the lights on. I will say the creepy part about the movie was this was based off a true story and the fact that things like creepy boxes do exist and was purchased on eBay. You can look up the complete story for yourself but I think I'm going to stay away from that one. Even the picture I posted here kind of creeps me out a little.

The Expendables 2 Review

This movie was a joy to watch just like the first one. It has almost all the characters from the last Expendables except for Mickey Rourke. This movie also added some new good characters into the mix. One of my favorites is the one the only Jean-Claude Van Damme, which was the villain in the movie. The infamous Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, Nan Yu, she ended up joining forces with the group later on; Arnold Schwarzenegger was actually in the movie and not computerized in like the first one. The Expendables 2 had the same cheesy lines like the first one, there was still a lot of shooting, blood splatters, explosions and action-packed sequences.

There will be no spoiler alerts here, in my opinion this movie would have been completed if Steven Segal was in it; All the older action superstars in their prime kicking butt and taking names later. I enjoyed watching this movie and I'm going to get it on DVD when it comes out. If you seen the first one and like the action, shooting, blood spats and cheesiness, then go see this.

Chocolate Hazelnut Review

Pinkberry yet again came out with another flavor, chocolate hazelnut frozen yogurt. It has decadent chocolate with hazelnut pieces mixed in for a sinful flavor. It's not too light or too heavy on taste, it also doesn't have a aftertaste like some flavors. You can taste the hazelnut pieces in the yogurt, I was very impress with Pinkberry, it didn't taste like yogurt either it tasted more like ice cream, which I love. You can get it as is in the picture with; roasted hazelnut pieces, crushed hazelnut wafer rolls and chocolate sauce.

The only thing is, Pinkberry took out the regular chocolate flavor so if you are expecting to get the regular chocolate frozen yogurt it's not going to be there. I had mine mixed with the strawberry frozen yogurt with granola, fresh strawberries, pineapples and Oreo bits. Next time I'll try the defaulted toppings that's in the picture, but if you love hazelnut plus chocolate this is a must try. My absolute favorite.

Texting Extremist

Lately I've been getting bombarded with text messages from my friends. Mainly about everyday things or how you doing kind of things. I have no problem with getting those types of text messages from time to time, not every single day or multiple messages of the same subject. If you are going to ask me those type of questions in much detail, I rather talk to you on the phone instead. I don't want to type up my entire life story in a text message, let alone you get a certain amount of characters per text message.

It just takes too long to type, abbreviate, and to explain in detail without taking too long to respond to the question. Plus my friends have the unlimited text messaging package which I can't afford, even if I had the funds to get it I wouldn't because it'll give my friends the excuse to text me more without even calling me once in awhile. I only text when I need to and when there is no way I can make a phone call. Sometimes we need that interpersonal conversation because it's personable, besides we are not robots. I don't even remember how some of my friends sound like, it's been a long time since I heard their voices.

What are your thoughts on text messaging too much?

So Far So Good

I hope everyone's weekend was good, I accomplished my mines yesterday. Today was the first day of being on the floor at work. I set up shop! meaning I set the printer to my computer, got all necessary docs for students and got my schedule. I worked a few students without too much problem, I'm still in the new phase trying to get used to being on my own for the most part.

All in all, I did pretty well on my first day out of training. I know every once in awhile I'll get some different challenges because every scenario is different, which I don't mind the challenge. I've learned with this job you'll have to have confidence, if you run across something that you are not sure of always ask questions. I also learned that everyone makes mistakes, just learn from them and make improvements.

Today's Agenda

On today's agenda I will be getting some frozen yogurt, every Sunday is typically frozen yogurt day. Usually Sunday's are my leisure days like; doing some laundry, running errands, cleaning the house, and study my materials for work. One of my guilty pleasures is frozen yogurt and cupcakes, since it's still summertime why not take advantage of eating frozen yogurt before summer ends.

I had a good night's sleep, watch the Sunday service on TV, I was able to vent on here yesterday and I wanted to treat myself for all the hard work I put into my final on Friday. So I'm taking advantage of my days off before the daily grind begins.

I hope everyone enjoy the rest of their weekend.

Sometimes Love is NEVER Enough

I need to vent right now, usually I don't vent on the internet, which is the worse thing ever but because there is no one I can vent to right now so why not do it here right? I want to be heard. This is all for the women because I'm speaking on their behalf... Girl Power!!! so this might be a little offensive to men. So don't read if you don't want to hear me complaining about you men.

I'm only speaking on my own experiences, opinions and my own observations so lately men have been getting on my last nerves and I'm a little unhappy at the moment. I feel like you guys lack communication skills and comprehension when it comes to relationships. Y'all tend to tune us out or have selective hearing when we are talking to you. This also happens when you are watching TV, it's like we don't exist. They say men are simple and we are complicated, I really really really think you guys are NOT simple if that's the case y'all wouldn't be single. You want us to be pretty, shut the F up most of the time, not have emotions or opinions, cook, clean, and give it up daily. Pretty much just cater to you 24/7 without talking, just like a robot.

Women should be able to express how they feel about something without getting a smart ass remark from men like, is it the end of the world? why are you dwelling on this? it's not a big deal, you are overreacting or you are so emotional. I want to be able to ask questions without getting the attitude or getting snapped on. What happen to feeling you are the center of their universe? feeling number 1 in their life or when they are anxious to see you or hear your voice before they go to bed or get up in the morning. I miss having that in my life, it's a great feeling when someone makes you feel like a queen. If you really love someone you'll do EVERYTHING in your power to make them happy. I know for a fact that a lot of men don't do nothing to make their partners happy, it's either they are completely lazy, selfish, inexperience in relationships, clueless or just don't give a crap. Like I said, they expect us to be pretty, have no emotions, cook and clean and give it up on a daily basis.

I want to feel understood, I want to be heard, I want someone to appreciate me and I want to feel important in their life. Maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic or too much of a good person. I think it's completely BS when I hear that if a man treats his mother with the up most respect then he'll treat his woman the same, not true at all. And why that exes treat you so awful in the relationship and when you leave them they apologize and want you back? and promise to change. First of all, why treat me like crap in the first place, and second, why are you realizing now, after the fact!!! I'm out of your life you decide that you want to change for the better to get me back?

Relationships are hard work and if that person is worth everything you'll work hard to keep them. Relationships are like buildings, you have to have the foundation to build a good structure so it can be strong, without it the building will fall.

I Passed with Flying Colors

I've been slacking on blogging lately only because I've been working hard at my new job, making sure I'm understanding the whole processing procedure. There is a lot to learn about processing in financial aid. Training takes 4 weeks and at the end is a final, the final is determined if you are competent on the floor or not. This shows the company that you've learned and grasps the basics and will be able to do your job correctly.

Right before taking the final we had a review on all the material we've learned over the past 4 weeks. Everything we were going over seemed fine, I knew the material and my notes were organized enough, well, I rewrote them so it does look organized and not confusing. But when it was time to take the final I got really nervous. A lot of things was going through my head like, what if I don't pass? what's going to happen to my job if I don't pass? I had to take a deep breath and calm my mind for clarity.

It took me 5 1/2 hours to finish my final, that's including double checking my answers and the ones I skipped over. I finally took a lunch break, spoke with my teammates and shadowed before they called me back in for the final results. I was super nervous because I didn't want to fail, I'm such an overachiever and I hate losing or failing at anything. All in all, I passed my final with flying colors and I would have had a much higher score if I didn't make silly mistakes but I passed that's all that matters. Whoot!!!

Photo of the Day

There is a teaser trailer all over the internet for the new Superman movie: "Man of Steel". The trailer consist of two different narrators, Russell Crowe or Kevin Costner but the trailer is the same for both narrators. Also if you watch the Batman: The Dark Knight Rises movie it will show the trailer in the previews before the movie starts.

Man of Steel is coming out next year and from the looks of it, it might be way better than the previous superman movie.

Batman: The Dark Knight Rises Review

I'm a big comic book/movie fan, so I've wanted to see this movie when it first came out but due to a horrific tragedy with the movie shooting in Colorado I was too paranoid to go. With that being said, I finally did put on my big girl shoes and went to go see it this past weekend. There are no spoiler alerts here because I don't want to ruin anything so others that didn't see it can enjoy it.

This is the third installment of the Batman trilogies, well Christopher Nolan's version. There are some of the original characters like Christian Bale as Batman, the butler, the mayor etc. but there was new additions like Cat woman played as Anne Hathaway and the villain Bane played as Tom Hardy. So the synopsis of the movie is after 8 years of "The Dark Knight" terrorists leader Bane comes to town and pushes Gotham City police forces to their limits. This also forces Batman to resurface from retirement after taking the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes. He has to save the city even though the city thinks he's the enemy.

Long story short, I liked the movie, even though at times I became paranoid in the movie theater. Watching people come in, sitting down, getting up etc. I enjoyed the movie for the most part. The movie is about 2 hours and 45 minutes but it didn't seem that way, there was enough action to keep the plot going. I wanted to also add that the character Bane was really good in this movie. Most people like the second installment a little bit better but this movie did its part also. It's a go see in my book.

Moe's Southwest Grill Review

Since starting my new job I've been eating at local restaurants in the area on my lunch breaks. I happened to stumble across this restaurant called Moe's Southwest Grill. This place is similar to Chipotle and Qdoba as far as food items goes, the difference is you automatically get free chips and your choice of salsa with Moe's Southwest Grill, where as if you want chips and salsa you get charge for it at Chipotle and Qdoba. Moe's meat is grass-fed steak, all natural white breast meat chicken, grain-fed pull pork and ground beef and they have tofu which is organic; the other two don't have tofu.

I had the salad in a crispy salad shell with ground beef, pinto beans, mild corn salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese and cilantro.... mmm! gotta have cilantro. My free chips had a mild type of tomatillo salsa. I love Chipotle so much but I'm starting to like Moe's too because they seem more healthier in my opinion. If you had Chipotle and Qdoba and similar restaurants, then give Moe's a try.

Colorado Shooting Update

As the days go by I learn more about what may happen at the movie theater and about the shooter that caused a massacre Good Morning America.

We all can say he has a mental problem because there is no way someone can just go into a place, in this case a movie theater and start shooting innocent people. James Holmes dropped out of a neuroscience program, he calls himself "The Joker", unemployed, has an arsenal of weapons and his apartment was rigged with explosive devices. Allegedly he was on medication before the theater rampage took place. Also I heard that a person that sat in the front row answered a text or took a phone call and walked out the exit door to answer or check it, which is strange to take a call out the exit door versus normally taking it into the hallway outside the auditorium. After minutes of that strange individual leaving out the exit door to check their phone, the shooter came in from the exit door shooting.

I found an article saying on June 7, 2012 he purchased a rifle after failing an oral exam that day. The therapist on the article was saying his already underlying mental illness was triggered by the stress from failing and that could cause a dormant schizophrenia, which I predicted anyway just by the actions he took. This loose canon can take it out on people because he was stressed? guess what? stress is a common thing in today's busy world, that doesn't mean to take it out on innocent people by killing and injuring people because you are stressed. PERIOD!!!

So does that means that every time he is stressed out or failed at something he buys more weapons? in my opinion it seems like he can't handle stress very well. Also the guns he was using in the theater required some expertise training and practice. In numerous sources said he was put in a separate cell by himself (solitary confinement) either because the inmates were plotting to kill James Holmes or because he is just a mental ill person with screws loose I'm not sure.

Like I said before I hope they give him life or the death penalty (execution). Those 12 people he killed didn't deserve to die and those 59 people that he injured didn't deserve to get injured.

Colorado Shooting

I was shocked to here what I heard on the radio this morning. Hearing and reading about it PISSED me off. Batman: The Dark Knight Rises movie came out Friday (today), so there was a midnight showing for it. It's one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, heck I would have probably seen it at midnight if I didn't have to work today. But I plan on going some time soon. There was a lot people that went to the midnight showing, unfortunately tragic happened. A freaking gunman came into the theater that is located in Aurora, Co and started shooting people.

Shooting 71 people, 10 bodies still in the theater and 12 are dead. What was the 24 year old James Holmes motive? I have no f_ing clue. I mean, there was no reason to go on a shooting spree on people in a freaking movie theater or anywhere, PERIOD!!! This tool was a graduate that withdrawn from a Neuroscience program at a university. Again this tool went into one of the sold out auditoriums dressed like a Call of Duty person and denonated smoke bombs and started shooting four rounds or something like that into the croud; taking place at 12:39am.

The douche bag shooter was arrested within minutes of the shooting, police found 3 guns; a rifle, shotgun and glock handgun. After getting arrested he told officers he was the '"The Joker" and also told police that his apartment was booby-trapped. His apartment had trip wires, bombs, flammable devices, and whatever else they will find. The thing that stuck out the most for me was, I heard a 3 month old was either killed or injured.

The number of casualties in the theater is the largest in U.S. history. I hope this evil jack ass get life in prison or the death penalty for what he did. He'll get a taste of his own medicine.

All of my prayers and thoughts are with the victim's family and friends that are coping with this tragedy.

Don't flick your cigarettes out the car

It was brought to my attention that it is illegal to flick cigarettes out of your car.

Again, I'm not a smoker so this doesn't apply to me but I know people who smoke that could use some info on this. Indiana State police will fine you up to $10, 000 if you flick a burning cigarette out of you car. This is precautionary to prevent fires and littering. The reasoning of this fine is supposedly someone threw a cigarette out their window and caused a field fire and on an interstate, since there was a drought in the past few weeks made the fire ignite much quicker.

A few years ago a friend of mine told me she was sitting on the passenger side of her car one day, she wasn't driving at the time and someone in the car in front of her flicked a burning cigarette out the window and it happened to bounce from the ground and into her lap, mind you her window was down at the time. I can't remember if she got a little burned or not but it can be dangerous especially if you are on the highway; driving 60 mph and flicking a cig can bounce pretty high up.

I just think that smokers need to be more considerate when it comes to smoking around children, the elderly and now throwing cigarettes out of windows. It's already bad enough to breathe that stuff anyway let alone hoping not to get hit with one in your own car. This fine should also take effect in Illinois too because people throw them out all the time. That's why the manufacturer build cars with ashtrays.

So smokers if you don't want to get slap with a $10, 000 fine in Indiana don't flick your cigs out your windows, it's not worth it.

TCBY I Love You

This past weekend I enjoyed some TCBY frozen yogurt to keep cool in the summer heat. One of my guilty pleasures is frozen yogurt, of course. Last week or so, TCBY decided to come out with Strawberry as their summer flavor. So I decided to try it with their chocolate flavor which was to die for. As for my toppings, I had kit kat, strawberries and oreos to top it off.

Recently, they added a Pomberry Sorbet flavor. What I like about frozen yogurt shops they give you samples of the flavor before you decide to buy. All of their flavors taste just like ice cream.

The Pomberry Sorbet is a mix of blueberries and pomegranate flavors that is a little tart but sweet. I had it with the Strawberry frozen yogurt with kit kat and chocolate chip toppings. The only thing I didn't like was the after taste I had after chowing down on the Pomberry deliciousness. But the subtle flavor of the strawberry frozen treat added a balance of flavor.
I would recommend trying the Pomberry Sorbet because it's a fruity and sweet treat that adds a little tartness to your pallet. There are other flavors to try depending on various locations.

Great Surprise

I've got the best news ever so far this week. I went to an job interview two weeks ago for a Financial Aid position, this position involves assisting students in getting student loans and the likes. There is a lot of customer service and multitasking skills required, so I knew this would be a fit for me because I have several years of experience. The day of the interview started out as a group interview, four people including me, then we were interviewed individually.

I thought the interview went pretty well except for uncommon surprised behavior questions that I wasn't prepared for. I did stumble on some of the questions that was asked of me because I had to think of incidents in the past that I wasn't prepared to answer. To sum it up, I took too long to answer some of the questions. I found out Monday I didn't get the job, so automatic I was very upset because I really wanted that position.

The staffing agency that got me the interview two weeks ago had another opportunity for me, there was an interview Wednesday which was yesterday with the same company but corporate office and similar position but more analytical and internal. This time it was with a group interview of six people, no individual interview just a group interview. So I did some research of the corporate company and the position, I practiced my introduction and possible questions they may ask and the ones they asked me before. Also questions I have to ask them like the position, company, how they became employee there etc.

Long story short, the interview went extremely well and they said they are going to make a decision either the same day or the next. This morning I got the call as I predicted because I tend to over-think anyway. The agency said they want to give me the position and the start date is Monday. I was so excited and very happy in getting hired. Not only was the position perfect for me but also the pay is what I've been asking for, for a very long time. I was given a second chance in getting the interviewing process right and getting my foot in the door.

All of my hard work payed off and it was definitely a great surprise.

Savages Review

I seen this movie over the weekend because it seemed crazy and I like shoot 'em films with action.

The stars to name a few are; Taylor Kitsch (Chon) an ex Navy Seal, Aaron Johnson (Ben) a Buddhist, Blake Lively (Ophelia) the love interest to Chon and Ben, John Travolta (Dennis) a DEA agent, Benicio Del Toro (Lado) a brutal enforcer to Alena and Salma Hayek (Alena) a Mexican Baja Cartel boss.

The movie is about two entrepreneurs Ben and Chon running a lucrative, homegrown business selling the best marijuana out there. According to them this stuff was the best thing since slice bread. All residing in Laguna Beach, CA. Ben and Chon share, and I mean SHARE Ophelia as a threesome bunch. I'm sure a lot of women would find O a slut and some may find the sharing envious; I think it's nasty and weird.

Everything was all good with the threesome until the Mexican Baja Cartel demanded that they partner with them. And of course, Ben (Johnson) and Chon (Kitsch) declined and all hell broke lose. The mercenaries kidnapped O (Lively) to demand a partnership forcing the entrepreneurs to take matters in their own hands by contacting a reluctant DEA agent (Travolta) to take down the cartel.

The movie had action, violence, blood and drug use but I found the movie a little bit boring at times. I thought Benicio Del Toro's character did a good job playing a slow minded, crazy bad guy. I'll give this movie 2 stars.

Doomsday Virus

Today is the day that thousands of people's internet shut down due to a virus (malware).

The FBI advised everyone to check their computers for malware through a government website to see if they have it. If you have the malware virus on your computer then you'll have to contact your internet provider to get your computer cleaned up and running. The shutdown started at midnight, the hackers planted the virus to several thousands of servers last year.

The FBI found the hackers and pulled the plug thus whoever servers were affected by the hackers virus got disconnected as well. Some people were successful in fixing their computers through the FBI website and some didn't, either they ignored the warning or didn't trust the site. I told a few people to go check their computers and they didn't trust it.

I've check mines and it turned out fine, no virus or anything of that sort, thank goodness! so hopefully they can get this straighten out as soon as possible so thousands of people can get on the internet.

Life Is Too Short

I've had a interesting week so far, ups and downs and positives and negatives thrown my way. The jobs are scarce, prices of things constantly going up, family bickering, and not having any emotional support from close friends. I was going to blog about current events but this needed to be address. I believe all things happen for a reason, I also believe these reasons can strengthen us and things can be turned around for the better.

It's been an emotional roller coaster week and I'm not plan on having it this way the rest of the week. Life is too short for all the drama people are causing. Love one another because it might be our last, the whole world could end tomorrow and we all are causing negativity amongst each other. If anyone has issues with friends and/or family talk it out because holding resentment only makes things worse. If I have an issue with someone I'll communicate it with them not talk behind their backs, I'm very blunt and have no problems expressing it. People that know me, knows that I'm very honest with my responses. I like to live a positive, drama free life and everyone should live by that.

Again love one another because life is too short to live with resentment, anger and grudges.

Bath Salts Ruled Out

Last month I blogged about the Miami face eater that ate a homeless man's face off and was killed by the police for the horrific attack. Well, the toxicology test came back a few days ago, the test showed that there was no bath salts in Rudy Eugene system but marijuana was found in him.

The toxicology laboratory also said that it doesn't rule out other drugs that the test can't detect. I'm not sure if the marijuana was laced with some other type of synthetic drug, I don't smoke so I have no idea. But I do hear that some marijuana get other ingredients mixed in, enhancing the potency? Again I don't know for sure but that's what I've heard. That's why I say no to drugs!  :)

On a lighter note! the homeless man is doing fine and is in recovering. More on the toxicology test findings, click here.

Obama Health Care

The Supreme Court upholds Obamacare individual mandate.

President Obama wanted to pass this bill for healthcare because millions of people are without health insurance in the United States, what does this mean to us? we are required to get insurance or pay a tax penalty. Single adult could pay $95 a year or up to 1% of their income; a family could pay $285 a year or up to 1% of their income. Please Note!!! the price of the penalty goes up every year. This mandatory healthcare doesn't take effect until 2014.

I don't know if I'm on board with this only because I have a lot of questions of my own and I need a thorough explanation on how this is going to work. What if a person is out of work, how do they get insurance without a job? what about prescription plans? will it be priced the same as before or will that go up as well? and the same question for co-pay.

Not only we are forced, I mean required to have already pricy insurance but the lower-income families have to dish out more money to keep up with their insurance or to insure their entire family so they don't have to pay the penalty. It's already a struggle to pay for the gauging price of food, gasoline, sales taxes, clothes, education/loans and everything else. I don't have insurance right now and I hope this does not backfire on the United States. For more info on the healthcare bill, click here.

What are your thoughts on the Obama Health Care?

Knocking at my Door

"Behold, I stand at the door and Knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and sup with him, and he with me." Revelations 3:20

I too heard the knock on the door. A few weeks ago in the middle of the night I heard two knocks on my door as clear as day. I couldn't explain it, the knocks were pretty clear and loud enough for me to hear. Previously I prayed about a specific situation that had happened to me awhile ago and wanted an answer to. I prayed the same prayer the night before I heard the knock; The knock didn't scare me it just alarm me a little. God answers prayers and reality not all prayers get answered. I know that every prayer can't always be answered the way we want them to but the right ones can with a message.

I'm not a preacher nor do I want to just preach but I too heard the knock on the door.

Illinois Cigarette Tax Increase

Illinois decided to pass a bill to add an additional $1 tax on the sale of cigarettes on Sunday.

I'm not a smoker nor do I want to start, I can't stand cigarettes or any sorts of smokes. Since cigarettes going to cost people an additional dollar, will that deter people from buying cigarettes? probably not due to the fact that it's hard to quit smoking and I don't think the price gauge will stop them from buying it either.

The original tax on cigarettes was $0.98 now it'll be $1.98, of course this angered a lot of smokers, they might have to travel long distances for cheaper smokes, who knows. But living in this fantastic city *sarcasm* I wouldn't be surprise if they increase taxes on toilet paper.

Matcha Green Tea Frozen Yogurt Review

Saturday I went to a local mall after the movies just to window shop, well actually go for some Caribou Coffee until I stumble across a Yogen Fruz shop on the second level. And everyone that knows me know that I LOVE frozen yogurt because it's healthy and I'm somewhat of a health nut. There were a lot of selections to choose from but I decided to get the matcha green tea because I happen to like green tea drinks.

I'm not sure how many toppings you get but apparently certain flavors come with certain toppings to compliment the taste. After suggestions from the cashier, mines would taste better with Mochi bits, which is a Japanese rice cake. The taste was slightly odd, it didn't remind me of matcha but it reminded me of a milder, earthy flavor of imitation green tea. It almost had a salty taste to it, thank goodness the mochi helped a lot to sweeten the flavor. If I were to go back I'll have to stick with my usual chocolate frozen yogurt.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter Review

This movie was produced by Time Burton, which is notorious for beautifully dark tales.

This movie was about a future president looking for vengeance of his mother's death but not knowing the person that murdered his mother was a vampire. Running across a foe that helps him train to slay these vampire pests. Overall, this movie had potential but it dragged throughout with political speeches and going off target rants. I could have waited for it on rental, I'll give it a 2 1/2 stars but watchable.

Nice Girls Finish Last Too

You always here the phrase, "Nice Guys Finish Last."

But what about the nice girls? this rule applies to us as well. Guys always complain they can't find a good woman but when they get them they don't know how to treat them right or they get scared. They are so used to the bad women that treat them so badly, when a good one comes along and treats them good they freak out.

I hate to say this but a lot of guys want the gold diggers that take every last bit of your money, the superficial ones that look in the mirror more than they look at you, what about the woman that emasculates you, putting you down constantly? or go out of their way to rip out your heart and crush it with their bare hands?

I notice when I'm nice to a guy he either, takes advantage of my kindness or thinks I'm weak. The guy didn't appreciate me because I was nice and went out of my way to be a good woman to him; it wasn't good enough. I know I'm a good person and I have a lot to offer someone but DAMN do I have to rattle some cages to get the same treatment I give to them? Heck NO!!! I believe in, "Treat others as you wish to be treated" until the day I die. I'm going to continue to be my nice-self and treat others good. If they can't handle that, then tough!

Does being nice means you will put up or tolerate a lot more crap? or willing to ignore the crap to be with that partner? does being nice really pay off?

If nice guys finish last, then nice girls finish last too?

Do you think nice girls finish last too?

Taking Risks

"Taking risks is not taking the safe route, but it's taking the one less traveled one."

Not the best quote but you get the logistics. Have I been taking risks lately? to be honest, Not really! not like I should. I've been coasting or going with the flow of things. I will say this, I've took risks with relationships and those failed miserably, but those risks wasn't good enough. I consider those everyday life experiences that happens to everyone in their lifetime.

Obviously, we take some risks everyday like crossing the street or driving a car, but what about taking risks with job opportunities or making that move to another state? I have some friends and family that made those moves to move out of state and took job opportunities of a lifetime and never looked back since.

I've been wanting to move out of state for a few years now but a lot things are in my way and need to be taken care of first. It cost money to move, to find a place and not to mention SAVE, let alone finding security in employment. Others took those risks and made it without any regrets, that will be me soon.

Photo of the Day

Downtown Chicago (Buckingham Fountain)

R.I.P. Rodney King

Rodney King was famous for the quote "Can we all get along?" after getting beaten by the Los Angeles police back in March of '91 sparking the nation's worst racial riots in history. Rodney King passed away Sunday June 17, 2012 on an apparent accidental drowning. His fiancee found him at the bottom of the pool. I think it might have been suicide because he was a great swimmer and often swim a lot. Others think his fiancee might have something to do with it... I doubt it!

The 47 year old dealt with the physical and emotional aches and pains since the beating resulting in alcoholism and repeated arrests over the years. But he seemed like he turned his life around, King decided to come out with a autobiography "The Riot Within: My Journey From Rebellion to Redemption" about his life and reliving the LA beating that took place. An autopsy is being performed to determine whether or not alcohol or drugs played a role in his death.

Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! BKs Summer Menu

Burger King has done it again... bringing out new and exciting food and drink items.

It is brought to my attention that BK is bringing out a Bacon Sundae along with other limited items this summer. The bacon sundae has vanilla ice cream, caramel and fudge, pieces of bacon and a BIG piece of bacon on top. I guess they are going for a salt and sweet type of treat.

It has 510 calories, 18 grams of fat and 61 grams of sugar. It doesn't look too appetizing to me because of the combo of bacon, ice cream, fudge and caramel sauce.

BK also added similar items of McDonald's which I came to the conclusion that BK is trying to bring in more customers due to competition.

For the rest of the summer items, Burger King is bringing out Frozen Lemonade, Sweet Potato Fries and other BBQ items.

I don't know but would you try the Bacon Sundae when it comes out?

Prometheus Review

I decided to go see Prometheus with my family yesterday because it looked very interesting and I'm into Sci-Fi movies. I'm going to try not to spoil the movie for some that didn't see it.

Prometheus is a prequel to the Aliens franchise... same director of Aliens. A team of a couple of doctors, engineers, pilots, captain and enthusiastic individuals seek out the first origins of mankind discovering more than what they expected. Pretty much Prometheus is the spacecraft they were on and flew to some unknown place where there was a tomb-like cave. ******SPOILER******* that tomb-like cave ended up being a spaceship taking flight for earth to wipe it out of existence.

All in all, the movie had me a little scratching my head with questions. The acting was so so could be better, towards the end of the movie kind of dragged a little; at one point I actually thought the movie was about to end but it didn't. I thought this movie was OK, I felt like it was missing something, more of an explanation.

What's your preference? Myspace or Facebook?

This is just a curiosity, which one do you like better Myspace or Facebook?

I happened to have both Myspace and Facebook accounts and there are pros and cons to both. I signed up to Myspace in 2005 while attending college and all my classmates had a Myspace account. So I joined the Myspace bandwagon. The pros was you can customize your page with cool backgrounds and effects, also you can add your favorite videos or images anywhere on your page, not to mention music artists and playlist of songs of your choice.

It was also easier to add random people for the heck of it without jumping thru hurdles because you don't know them. With that being said, there are cons to having a Myspace account. The cons would be that you'll get spam friend requests or inbox messages frequently. I would get a lot of weird friend request from guys looking for a good time. creepy!!!

Also, there's the too much freedom of sexuality. What I mean by this is that you can get away with posting nudity or close to nothing pictures on your page without penalty. Things are more LEWD...and not to mention the profanity is so bad. There is no shame what people put on their Myspace accounts. One more thing I want to add, it takes forever to load to your homepage when you log in.

After dealing with all the nonsense with Myspace, I decided to give Facebook a try because a friend of mines created an account and it seemed a lot tamer. The cool thing about Facebook is it's much easier to find people because they use a first and last name username unless you have a different alias name. You can create events, write notes and write on people's wall with ease. Facebook added a system where you can post where you are going (places) and with whom (facebook friends).

The cons would be Facebook changes their format more frequently which can be annoying especially if you've gotten used to the standard structure. It seems like a lot of people are airing out their dirty laundry on Facebook. Their drama with their baby's mom/dad, drama with their boyfriend/girlfriend, how much they hate their boss etc. even all that being said, I'm on Facebook a lot more than Myspace because it's cleaner/less lewd, easier to use and I can connect with people more.

What's your preference? Myspace or Facebook?

Do you TEXT or talk on the PHONE more?

This is the old age question because technology has changed so much for people to communicate to each other more efficiently. Remember the payphones and pagers? they were the one stop technology to communicate with people. To use the payphone you'll have to have change (.25 cents) to make a call. I've never had a pager before but you'll get paged with a message to call the person back whether through a payphone, a landline phone or a bulky cell phone.

This topic came about when the news recently discussed how people text a lot more than using the phone nowadays. When text messaging came around I wasn't too knowledgeable about it at the time. So when my friends had text messaging they always want to text me but since I didn't have it because lack of knowledge I always use the cell to talk to them.

After learning that text messaging has become more popular over the years, I've decided to get a text message package on m cell phone. I began texting little by little, I STILL would rather call my friends and family than texting because I'm old fashion and rather have a interpersonal conversation, but sending a text once in a while is helpful especially when someone is at work or at an event and can't be disturb by chattiness on the phone. Some people that is starting out in the text message world may not get the short abbreviation meanings like (lol) laugh out loud, (omg) oh my gosh or whatever "G" word in replacement; (smh) shaking my head, (pm) personal message, (ttyl) talk to you later and the list goes on.

Let me know your thoughts on text messaging versus phone conversation.

Need a daily dose of GOOD sleep

So I've been dealing with insomnia for a couple of years or so, I don't know where it originally came from but it's quite annoying. Either I can't fall asleep until really late at night or I'll fall asleep at a reasonable time but awaken the middle of the night. *Sigh* sometimes I can't win.

I do know that when laying down on my bed I start to think about my day or I'll start thinking about what I'm going to do the next day or two or three down the road, which can be bothersome because my mind starts to race.

I've seen remedies to help with insomnia like drinking chamomile tea, warm milk or eating turkey because it has Tryptophan which apparently causes sleepiness or relaxation. Trying those remedies took a little longer for me to fall asleep. Experts say don't take sleeping pills because it doesn't produce Rapid Eye Movement (REM) which the body needs to regenerate.

So I've read somewhere on a medical site that Melatonin is good to take because it's natural and the brain produces Melatonin anyway, so I said why not? I tried it and it took about 30 - 45 minutes to kick in. The only downfall for taking Melatonin is there are side effects like having scary nightmares and residual drowsiness. I'm sure there are more side effects but I personally rather fall asleep like a normal person.

Delicious Delights

One of my guilty pleasures in life is awesome tea and pastries to go with. I love love love tea and have a sweet tooth to match. There's this cafe place called Julius Meinl in Chicago that have a variety of coffees, teas, pastries, and sandwiches. Julius is a Vienna cafe that serves breakfast, brunch and desserts.

There are a lot selections of teas like black, green, white, mate, rooibos, herbal and fruit tea infusion teas. My favorite tea so far is the rooibos Caramel that had caramel pieces in it. As far as desserts, my absolute favorite is the Opera which has espresso-drenched almond cake, espresso buttercream, chocolate ganache and a symbol of a music note next to it is the icing on the cake. Nom Nom Nom!!!

There are others like the Black Forest which has kirsch mousse, chocolate cake, brandied cherries, chocolate mousse. The Apfelstrudel that had apples, golden raisins, cinnamon, baked in a flaky pastry is also good. All in all this place is awesome and a must try if you are in the area or are in town for a visit.

Zombie Apocalypse, Flesh Eating Disease, Cannibalism...WHAT???

Lately there has been an epidemic on the internet about this Zombie Apocalypse thing, having zombie kits/first aid kits just in case of an outbreak of zombies, you can read the article here. All of this came about when a 24 year old ended up with the flesh eating disease here. Also in Miami a 31 year old man name Eugene ate a homeless man's face off. Tearing the man's face off with his teeth up to 75 to 80% of his face chewed off.

There were reports saying that his nose, ear and eyeball was missing. I mean there are gruesome photos circling around the internet of the aftermath, it's pretty gross! Reports also suspect that Eugene might have been on 'bath salts' some potent form of LSD the day of the horrific attack. Nobody knows why this man attack this homeless man, nobody knows the motive. Police shot Eugene because he wouldn't stop attacking the man and the creepy part about this is the man stood up growling at the police like a crazy animal.

So they kept shooting him until he was dead; the homeless man's status is critical condition at a hospital in Miami. If this homeless man makes it through and live he will always be reminded of the horrific thing that happened to him. You can read the rest of the story here. Reading all of these articles scared the crap out of me. Feel free to comment, what's your thoughts.
