Machete Kills Review
Machete Kills is the second installment of Machete, I wanted to see this movie because I saw the first one thinking this one would be better. Boy, was I wrong! the main star of this movie is Danny Trejo as Machete, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Lady GaGa, Amber Heard, Carlos Estevez aka Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson and the list goes on.
The movie is about Machete working with the U.S. Government to take down an arms dealer that's plan on launching a missile into space. Sounds like a good plot for a Robert Rodriguez type movie right? WRONG! I was so bored with the storyline, trying so hard jokes and the poor acting I wanted to go to sleep. I tried to laugh at some of the jokes but it bland at best.
The concept was kind of there but fell short in my opinion. I could have bought a latte instead of watching this movie.

Gravity Review
I decided to see this movie yesterday after hearing great reviews of it. It's starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, it's about two astronauts trying to survive unfortunate events that took place outer space. Trying to find a way home was impossible in the eyes of these two astronauts. The film took you where they were and their struggles, it was like you are in space with them. It was heart pounding and exciting, the special effects was breathtaking as the camera pans into every inch of detail. You can't help but to feel compassion for Sandra and George's characters.
I was absolutely impress with this movie, this is one of the best Sci-Fi/Thriller films I can remember. It's so good I want to see it again. Two thumbs WAY up!!!

The Collection Review
I seen this movie not too long ago because I have "The Collector" on DVD and I loved it. The first movie left me wanting more because it didn't really end. So when I saw the preview for this movie I had to go see it. This movie left off when the main character (Arkin) played by Josh Stewart got kidnapped by The Collector played by Randall Archer in the first movie in 2009.
Arkin was able to escape from the crazy mastermind killer during a rave party and was finally going to live a normal life until he was blackmailed into saving a wealthy father's daughter (Alena) played by Emma Fitzpatrick from the killer's booby-trapped warehouse.
This movie have some crazy scenes with torture and ways the booby-trap finishes people. I won't add any spoiler alerts here because I don't want to ruin it for people that didn't see the movie. Go see this movie if you like movies that are similar to the Saw movies, horror, and sadistic movies. I'm getting this movie on DVD when it comes out to add to my collection.

Happy Holidays
Today in the U.S. is Christmas so Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy Holidays. 2013 is going to be an eventful year, good and bad or indifferent. A lot has happen that past few months or so, the company I work for closed 23 campuses within 2 weeks and now they have to lay off 900 people by the new year... bummer :( some unfortunately been laid-off and a lot of changes in my department will happen in January. I'm not looking forward to it because I don't know what's going to happen to me. In the past, I've worked at a company that was struggling because of the housing market, which is where their business thrived on. I was the last one to get hired and the first one to get fired, so I'm not too thrilled to hear the bad news before the holidays. I have faith and whatever happens, happen, it was meant to be.
On a better note, I started a little project that will grow into a bigger one later on, I will reveal much later in 2013. Some good movies will be coming out. I saw an official trailer of Man of Steel with Henry Cavill and I was in awe, I thought the first trailer was pretty awesome but this one was way BETTER. It looks like it will be better than the last Superman movie. Will Smith have a movie coming out called "After Earth" and that one looks good too. Will Smith son is in it too and he has to survive the much evolving earth. I think a new Mortal Kombat movie is coming out too but not sure. Brad Pitt has a movie called "World War Z" a zombie epidemic outbreak movie. I'm not so sure about this one yet. And more like; Iron Man, Captain America, prequel to 300?, wolverine and the list goes on.
A lot of people will be removed out of my life, meaning some people I don't talk to or shouldn't talk to will be removed out of my life. I need to surround myself with real people that have a positive outlook on life and want to do something with their lives. A lot of growth and changes will happen. All in all, 2013 will be my year!

The Man with the Iron Fists Review
When I saw the trailer for this movie I had to see it. This movie has a Quentin Tarantino spin on it but was directed by RZA from the Wu Tang Clan and written RZA and Eli Roth. The plot of the movie is a hunt to retrieve a treasure of gold. All the bad guys want their hands on this precious gold like the Golden warriors, assassins, the Gemini twins. It all started when a young man's father a Lion Clan Leader was murdered by the hands of a traitor. The young man Zen Yi - The X-Blade (Rick Yune) spark by vengeance runs into a blacksmith aka Blacksmith (RZA) which was forced to join forces with The X-Blade due to a unfortunately accident caused by the clan in which the Blacksmith making his arms into lethal weapons.
Jack Knife (Russell Crowe) a British solder joined them too, he helped in making those arms lethal weapons. The clan; Bronze Lion (Cung Le), Silver Lion (Byron Mann), Gold Lion, Copper Lion there was a lot of lions... haha! Poison Dagger (Daniel Wu). I can't forget about one of my wrestlers Brass Body (Dave Bautista) he did his thing in the movie as the powerhouse. A lot of the fighting took place in the brothel house ran by (Madame Blossom) Lucy Lu. The thing I want to point out that was funny to me, well a lot of things was funny to me about this movie was the fact that the clan loved their hair. Their hair was well done with a lot of volume, color and curl. Poison Dagger hair was all white with white eyebrows, he kept touching his eyebrow with his pinky finger that had a pointy jewel on it.
I liked the fighting scenes of course because it was bloody, crazy and funny. I can't say I liked RZA's acting, he's not a actor per se. It was so much crazy fighting with people flying in the air and doing some cool tricks with their weapons and blood shed all over the place. Bautista's character was a bad, motha trucka!!! Lucy Lu's character was really good too. Everyone that was fighting did a good job using their fighting abilities. Don't see this movie if you don't like violence, weird/crazy sense of humor or Quentin Tarantino style movies, it has his influences all over this movie. Also this movie story-line was a little different, not a typical good story. The acting was a little cheesy as well.

Sinister Review
I seen this movie over the weekend with my boyfriend and what can I say about this movie? well, this movie is about a true crime author (Ellison Oswalt) played by Ethan Hawke who wanted to write a best-selling book but came across some footage that was left in a house him and his family moved in to. The footage had 5 different family murders on them. Ethan Hawke's character is trying to write his book based off of these heinous crimes. As he watches each footage there is this creepy character that's in the background staring back. One of the murdered families was hung in the backyard of Ethan Hawke's new house. By watching each footage he opens a gateway for this supernatural entity to enter his home.
I couldn't really fully watch the movie myself only because there was a group of loud mouths in the theater, well one loud mouth guy mainly kept talking throughout the movie. Most of us was shhhing and telling that person to shut up, I remember one person kept saying "Shut the 'F' up". It was bad to the point where 3 people left. A patron that works at the theater came in and told the guy to be quiet or leave the theater, he was somewhat trying to argue with the patron but eventually shut up.
I thought this movie wasn't scary at all, even with the creepy character being in the background most of the time. I would say that the character was real ugly though, no mouth, black eyes and didn't speak at all. The scare factor didn't do it for me, I guess nothing scares me anymore as far as movies go. They really tried to make this movie scary with the background music and lighting. The music was kind of weird and fast. Would I see this movie again? probably not!

The Possession Review
This movie kind of sparked my interest when I first saw the trailer for it a while ago. I thought maybe I can build the courage to go see it. Til this day I'm still scared of "The Exorcist" the original one with Linda Blair. I saw that movie when I was a kid and it still creeps me out, I think by far the most scariest movie EVER. Back to "The Possession" it's about a haunted box believe to have demonic spirit from the Jewish folklore trapped in it and if anyone gain possession of it causes bad misfortune and torment. This was based off of a true story that took place in 2004 when someone purchased this box on eBay. But in the movie the father and his two daughters (Clyde) Jeffrey Dean Morgan, (Hannah) Madison Davenport and (Em) Natasha Calis went to a yard sale and purchased a mysterious box, not knowing it had a malicious spirit trying to get out.
Em somehow managed to get the box opened and all types of stuff broke lose. The ex-wife of Clyde (Sephanie) played by Kira Sedgwick was racing to save their daughter's life and put the evil spirit back into the box. The movie had some slight funny parts to give it some depth instead of overwhelming the movie with creepiness. But it wasn't scary enough for me or had that scary factor to make me want to go to sleep with the lights on. I will say the creepy part about the movie was this was based off a true story and the fact that things like creepy boxes do exist and was purchased on eBay. You can look up the complete story for yourself but I think I'm going to stay away from that one. Even the picture I posted here kind of creeps me out a little.

The Expendables 2 Review
This movie was a joy to watch just like the first one. It has almost all the characters from the last Expendables except for Mickey Rourke. This movie also added some new good characters into the mix. One of my favorites is the one the only Jean-Claude Van Damme, which was the villain in the movie. The infamous Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, Nan Yu, she ended up joining forces with the group later on; Arnold Schwarzenegger was actually in the movie and not computerized in like the first one. The Expendables 2 had the same cheesy lines like the first one, there was still a lot of shooting, blood splatters, explosions and action-packed sequences.
There will be no spoiler alerts here, in my opinion this movie would have been completed if Steven Segal was in it; All the older action superstars in their prime kicking butt and taking names later. I enjoyed watching this movie and I'm going to get it on DVD when it comes out. If you seen the first one and like the action, shooting, blood spats and cheesiness, then go see this.

Photo of the Day
There is a teaser trailer all over the internet for the new Superman movie: "Man of Steel". The trailer consist of two different narrators, Russell Crowe or Kevin Costner but the trailer is the same for both narrators. Also if you watch the Batman: The Dark Knight Rises movie it will show the trailer in the previews before the movie starts.
Man of Steel is coming out next year and from the looks of it, it might be way better than the previous superman movie.

Batman: The Dark Knight Rises Review
I'm a big comic book/movie fan, so I've wanted to see this movie when it first came out but due to a horrific tragedy with the movie shooting in Colorado I was too paranoid to go. With that being said, I finally did put on my big girl shoes and went to go see it this past weekend. There are no spoiler alerts here because I don't want to ruin anything so others that didn't see it can enjoy it.
This is the third installment of the Batman trilogies, well Christopher Nolan's version. There are some of the original characters like Christian Bale as Batman, the butler, the mayor etc. but there was new additions like Cat woman played as Anne Hathaway and the villain Bane played as Tom Hardy. So the synopsis of the movie is after 8 years of "The Dark Knight" terrorists leader Bane comes to town and pushes Gotham City police forces to their limits. This also forces Batman to resurface from retirement after taking the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes. He has to save the city even though the city thinks he's the enemy.
Long story short, I liked the movie, even though at times I became paranoid in the movie theater. Watching people come in, sitting down, getting up etc. I enjoyed the movie for the most part. The movie is about 2 hours and 45 minutes but it didn't seem that way, there was enough action to keep the plot going. I wanted to also add that the character Bane was really good in this movie. Most people like the second installment a little bit better but this movie did its part also. It's a go see in my book.

Savages Review
I seen this movie over the weekend because it seemed crazy and I like shoot 'em films with action.
The stars to name a few are; Taylor Kitsch (Chon) an ex Navy Seal, Aaron Johnson (Ben) a Buddhist, Blake Lively (Ophelia) the love interest to Chon and Ben, John Travolta (Dennis) a DEA agent, Benicio Del Toro (Lado) a brutal enforcer to Alena and Salma Hayek (Alena) a Mexican Baja Cartel boss.
The movie is about two entrepreneurs Ben and Chon running a lucrative, homegrown business selling the best marijuana out there. According to them this stuff was the best thing since slice bread. All residing in Laguna Beach, CA. Ben and Chon share, and I mean SHARE Ophelia as a threesome bunch. I'm sure a lot of women would find O a slut and some may find the sharing envious; I think it's nasty and weird.
Everything was all good with the threesome until the Mexican Baja Cartel demanded that they partner with them. And of course, Ben (Johnson) and Chon (Kitsch) declined and all hell broke lose. The mercenaries kidnapped O (Lively) to demand a partnership forcing the entrepreneurs to take matters in their own hands by contacting a reluctant DEA agent (Travolta) to take down the cartel.
The movie had action, violence, blood and drug use but I found the movie a little bit boring at times. I thought Benicio Del Toro's character did a good job playing a slow minded, crazy bad guy. I'll give this movie 2 stars.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter Review
This movie was produced by Time Burton, which is notorious for beautifully dark tales.
This movie was about a future president looking for vengeance of his mother's death but not knowing the person that murdered his mother was a vampire. Running across a foe that helps him train to slay these vampire pests. Overall, this movie had potential but it dragged throughout with political speeches and going off target rants. I could have waited for it on rental, I'll give it a 2 1/2 stars but watchable.

Prometheus Review
I decided to go see Prometheus with my family yesterday because it looked very interesting and I'm into Sci-Fi movies. I'm going to try not to spoil the movie for some that didn't see it.
Prometheus is a prequel to the Aliens franchise... same director of Aliens. A team of a couple of doctors, engineers, pilots, captain and enthusiastic individuals seek out the first origins of mankind discovering more than what they expected. Pretty much Prometheus is the spacecraft they were on and flew to some unknown place where there was a tomb-like cave. ******SPOILER******* that tomb-like cave ended up being a spaceship taking flight for earth to wipe it out of existence.
All in all, the movie had me a little scratching my head with questions. The acting was so so could be better, towards the end of the movie kind of dragged a little; at one point I actually thought the movie was about to end but it didn't. I thought this movie was OK, I felt like it was missing something, more of an explanation.
